Each of us has a deep desire to earn the approval of our Maker. Whether we know it or not, as Christians in today’s culture it can be easy to live for the approval of God rather than from it. But Jesus didn’t die on the cross to make us try harder to earn God’s love and approval, He died so we could freely receive it.
Isaiah 53 is an incredible prophecy that took place nearly 700 years before Jesus arrived on earth as a baby in Bethlehem. This powerful poetic chapter illustrates just how far God would go for us, so that we don’t have to carry our sin or the earning of God’s love anymore.
