This week, Cass takes us through Deuteronomy 12-26, where Moses recaps the Israelite Law. The Law is the first place people look to prove the Bible is barbaric and irrelevant, but God designed the Law as a tool to revolutionize the Israelites identity and morality, setting them apart from all other people groups and pointing them toward the ideals of the divine Creator. This was their highest ideal: listen and obey. However, the law seems to have an opposite effect on Israel, who break the law over and over, condemning them and leaving us asking… would anyone ever fulfill all that the law requires?
