On Easter Sunday we celebrate the resurrection as we gaze upon the wonder of Christ’s victory over sin and death. In Colossians, Paul declares that because of Christ’s work on the cross, through faith in him, our debt of sin is paid in full, and death is no longer our story. And because of Jesus’ victory, every evil power has been defeated in him, and will ultimately be destroyed. Because He lives in victory, we who know Jesus will live victoriously with Him forever!
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities[a] and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
