In the dailiness of life, we can lose the clarity of just who has delivered us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of light. In this small but beautifully powerful portion of his letter to the church of Colossae, Paul brings that into luminous view. Our rescuer is Jesus, the full embodiment of God the Father, who is beyond our imagination. He is the King of all creation and, to His glory, He knows our name.
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
