Operation Rescue

  • Update: April 20, 2021

On November 4, 2020, conflict broke out between Tigray regional forces and the Ethiopian federal government. At the start of this conflict, the federal government instituted a regional network and telecommunication blackout in Tigray as well as restricting access to critical resources, banks, and travel. No outside reporters or aid agencies were allowed access. Those outside of the region lost communication with their families and loved ones. Reports are just now coming out of the region, with news of massacres, looting in hospitals, burning of essential crops, limited access to water, mass starvation, and weaponized rape. Only 4 out of the region’s 40 hospitals remain in working conditions. 62,000 refugees have fled the area into Sudanese camps. 4 million people are in urgent need of basic necessities.

As a church, we have given $8,000 from our opportunity fund to aid in the relief efforts to help the families and children in the program in Adwa. Please join us in praying for and supporting Operation Rescue in this time as they continue to care for and serve families in the midst of incredibly hard and dangerous circumstances.
