Summer Book Club – Tuesday Evenings

Join Mosaic’s Summer Book Club!

Are you looking to deepen your passion for God while cultivating meaningful connections with others? Summer Book Club is the right place for you!

What is it?

Our Summer Book Club is an opportunity for individuals like you to come together in small groups, read chapters from a selected book, and engage in thought-provoking discussions centered around our shared passion for God and community.

How does it work?

Participants will register for the book club and commit to reading a chapter each week. Then, on the designated day and time they register for, they’ll gather with their small group to discuss the chapter they’ve read. These discussions will be facilitated in an environment that encourages learning, openness, and transformation.

Why join?

  • Transformation: Engage with literature that stirs your passion for God and His passion for others.
  • Connection: Connect with like-minded individuals who share your desire for discipleship and meaningful relationships.
  • Equipping: We carefully and prayerfully choose books that will equip you to live more faithfully in your discipleship to Jesus and in your ability to love others well.

Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane Ortlund

Christians know that God loves them but can easily feel that he is perpetually disappointed and frustrated, maybe even close to giving up on them. As a result, they focus a lot—and rightly so—on what Jesus has done to appease God’s wrath for sin. But how does Jesus Christ actually feel about his people amid all their sins and failures?

This book draws us to Matthew 11, where Jesus describes himself as “gentle and lowly in heart,” longing for his people to find rest in him. The gospel flows from God’s deepest heart for his people, a heart of tender love for the sinful and suffering.

These chapters take us into the depths of Christ’s very heart for sinners, diving deep into Bible passages that speak of who Christ is and encouraging readers with the affection of Christ for his people. His longing heart for sinners comforts and sustains readers in their up-and-down lives.

When Words Matter Most: Speaking Truth with Grace to Those You Love by Cheryl Marshall and Caroline Newheiser

When a friend or family member is struggling spiritually, do you ever feel uncertain about what to say?
You may sense your loved ones need to hear biblical encouragement or advice but feeling inadequate for the task, you might simply commiserate or say nothing. God calls you to something more.

In When Words Matter Most, Cheryl Marshall and Caroline Newheiser help you discern spiritual needs and give biblical, heartfelt guidance. Through real-life stories and carefully chosen Scripture passages, they model what to say to those who are worried, weary, wayward, or weeping. You’ll learn how to speak truth to others in your sphere of influence and strengthen the body of Christ as a whole.

Made for Friendship: The Relationship That Halves Our Sorrows and Doubles Our Joys by Drew Hunter

Friendship is one of the deepest pleasures of life. But in our busy, fast-paced, mobile world, we’ve lost this rich view of friendship and instead settled for shallow acquaintances based on little more than similar tastes or shared interests.

Helping us recapture a vision of true friendship, pastor Drew Hunter explores God’s design for friendship and what it really looks like in practice―giving us practical advice to cultivate the kinds of true friendships that lead to true and life-giving joy.
