This Week’s Gathering: Flourish | Christianity: Following Jesus in Intimacy

Jesus’ personal invitation to each one of us is to follow him, remaining and continuing on our way with him in intimacy. His desire is not that we would merely do things for him or believe the things he said, but that we would be present with him.

The same way we find intentional activities to build a relationship with a friend, a spouse, a child, or a roommate; we cultivate our relationship with Jesus with purposeful practices known as Spiritual Disciplines. These are ways God has given us to grow our communion with Him, as demonstrated by Jesus.

Let’s go on a journey together as we continue to experience in deeper and deeper ways a life of intimacy with Jesus.

Find daily Flourish series devotionals and resources here.

This week's gathering is ASL and Spanish translated.

Lemonade Stand

We are using a lemonade stand theme this month to welcome in the warmer days and introduce preschoolers to the amazing truth that God loves them. We want preschoolers to know that God has put a lot of planning and creating and love into each one of them. And, just like you can’t separate the water from the sugar from the lemon juice once you mix them, NOTHING can separate us from God’s love.

So, think a lot of love and a little lemon—mix it all together, and we will get an entire month of God loves me!

GOD HAS A PLAN FOR ME

Story Focus: God loves me and has a plan for me. Week two, a young girl named Esther will show us that because God loves us, He has a plan for us. No matter how hard things get or how wrong things seem, we can trust God’s plan and know that in His time, He will use our situation for good. God had a plan for Esther, and He has a plan for us too.

The Garden & City: Teaching & Resources (Kindergarten - 4th Grade)

Unstuck: Don't Give Up

This month we’re exploring the connection between determination and God’s character, as shown through God’s big story. Determination is deciding it’s worth it to finish what you started.

GOD GIVES YOU WHAT YOU NEED

In week two, head to Acts 2:1-41 and find out how the disciples would have the strength to keep going and tell the world about Jesus. As the disciples were gathered together, the Holy Spirit came upon them and empowered them to preach with boldness. Peter preached the message of his life, and over 3,000 people put their faith in Jesus.

Bottom Line: God gives you what you need to keep going. When it comes to determination, kids might feel like they’ll never have enough of it to finish what they start. Thankfully, this isn’t something we have to face alone. We can rely on God to give us the strength we need to keep going.

GOD GIVES YOU WHAT YOU NEED

Key Question: What helps you keep going? We all face moments when we wish we could give up. We need to have a plan for when that happens. We’ll help our preteens discover some solutions for the moments when they want to quit. When you have a plan, you’re more likely to follow through and finish what you started.

Let Us Abide

In this time while we’re not able to be physically together, we’ll be sharing encouragements, prayers, short teachings, and devotionals throughout every week on on Instagram and Facebook as well as on our website.

We know that all of us are experiencing quite a shift from our regular weekly rhythms, but the rhythm of abiding in Jesus—following His way, truth, and life—remains. And in doing so, we find He is our anchor in all times, always drawing us in closer towards Him and others.

Let’s not stop fearlessly pressing into abiding in Him individually and as a community in every moment. He pulls great purpose and beauty out of all seasons, leading us in every step.
