Malawi is known as “The Warm Heart of Africa.” Children of the Nations is an organization that works in various countries, including Malawi. COTN is a Christian nonprofit dedicated to raising children out of poverty and hopelessness so they can become leaders who transform their nations.

Focus: Poverty Alleviation/Community Outreach/Young Adults/Small Business Training
Leader: Traci Tidwell

The mission trip will focus on teaching a 5-day business planning class to COTN students who were not able to go to college or are unable to find a job. After the classes, you will go into a near by village and get to know some families. You will be able to share Jesus with them, pray with and for them, and get to know them.

You will implement COTN’s lessons and provide guidance as they create and/or sustain their small businesses with a small micro-finance loan. COTN calls this part of their program, “beyond the village.”

A few small business that have been successful are tea rooms, solar charging stations, farming, clothing, peanut butter, and even a movie theater in a village!
