Lent is a season practiced by generations of believers leading up to Easter. It’s a time of preparation and repentance to remember Jesus’ suffering and to build anticipation for the celebration of resurrection.
This season is often accompanied by fasting (giving something up). This is not necessary, but is a common practice with the lent season.
The point is not to manufacture some kind of suffering, but to create space in our lives where we remind ourselves of what Christ endured and to focus on the sufficiency of God’s grace.
